GGHN has officially begun the Nigeria Preventing Occurrence of TB by Expanding Coverage of TPT among PLHIV (PROTECT) project in eight states across Nigeria. Funded by the US CDC Foundation, the project aims to pilot a novel electronic TB module to expand coverage of TB preventive treatment (TPT) among people living with HIV (PLHIV).

The project activities started with an entry meeting at eligible health facilities and a two-day training session for data entry clerks

The training focused on using the Nigerian Medical Records System, data entry quality, the TB & HIV cascade, and research ethics. Data entry is ongoing at all participating facilities across FCT, Nasarawa, Benue, Enugu, Kaduna, Lagos, Rivers, and Delta states. GGHN expects the electronic TB module to improve TB detection, management, and prevention, leading to better health outcomes for PLHIV.
