Dr. Olawale Sunday Animasaun is the Associate Technical Director of Laboratory Systems and Services at GGHN, providing technical direction for all laboratory-related activities. With over 15 years of experience as a Field Epidemiologist and Medical Laboratory Scientist, he has worked with government, non-governmental, and international organizations in laboratory system strengthening, quality assurance, and outbreak preparedness and response.

Dr. Animasaun holds a PhD in Medical Virology and Molecular Genomics, an MSc in Medical Microbiology, an MPH in Field and Laboratory Epidemiology Practice, and a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS). He has completed various specialized training programs both locally and internationally. His work focuses on integrating laboratory science and epidemiology to address public health challenges.

In addition to his role at GGHN, Dr. Animasaun is an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of the Philippines Open University and a Viral Haemorrhagic Fever Research Scholar at the Nigeria Institute of Medical Research (NIMR). He is a Fellow of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria and an alumnus of the Nigeria Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Programme.

Dr. Animasaun has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles and presented his research at international conferences. His current research centers on the One Health approach, focusing on surveillance and outbreak response to prevent epidemic-prone diseases at the human-animal-environment interface.
