In August and September 2025, two rounds of In-Between Round Activities (IBRA) were conducted in Katsina and Niger States to maintain vaccination momentum between major immunization rounds and ensure that no child was missed.

A targeted community engagement approach played a central role in achieving high coverage. Traditional leaders, ward committees, and health workers worked together to plan and implement vaccination activities. Advocacy visits to district heads, community dialogues, and locally led mobilization efforts created the support needed to reach settlements and deliver vaccines effectively.

This approach delivered measurable results. In Niger State, coverage increased from more than 85% in the first round to 98% in the second. Katsina surpassed its targets as well, with an average coverage of 110%. Across both states, hundreds of thousands of children received vaccines that protect them from polio and other preventable diseases.
