GGHN has extended its support to the Nigerian government in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Through the USAID-funded ACE2 project, GGHN is working to improve the quality and accessibility of prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) and paediatric antiretroviral therapy (ART) services in Nigeria.

As part of this effort, we recently hosted a pivotal meeting in Abuja, bringing together key stakeholders from various agencies and organizations, including USAID, CDC, DOD, and representatives from the Nigerian government, NASCP, and NACA. The aim of this meeting was to finalize essential job aids that will help health workers deliver PMTCT and paediatric ART services more effectively and efficiently across FMOH-supported health facilities throughout Nigeria.

These job aids include tools such as checklists, flowcharts, algorithms, and guidelines that will assist health workers in screening, testing, counseling, initiating, monitoring, and retaining pregnant women and children living with HIV on ART. They will also help to ensure that the services are provided in accordance with national standards and protocols.

We are optimistic that this collaborative initiative will usher in a new era of improved efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of PMTCT and paediatric ART services.
