The Georgetown Global Health Nigeria (GGHN) team, led by Deputy Chief of Party Dr. Bashir Zubayr, recently paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Usman Bashir, the newly appointed Director General of the Kano State Agency for the Control of AIDS (KSACA). The meeting focused on fostering collaboration between GGHN and KSACA to bolster the HIV response in Kano State.

Dr. Zubayr congratulated Dr. Bashir on his appointment and reaffirmed GGHN's commitment to partnering with KSACA to combat the HIV epidemic in the state. He highlighted GGHN's achievements under the ACE 2 project, emphasizing successful collaborations with KSACA. In response, Dr. Bashir expressed keen interest in deepening the partnership, specifically in areas such as data quality enhancement, community engagement, stigma reduction, and capacity building.

Furthermore, Dr. Bashir sought GGHN's assistance in mobilizing resources and advocating for increased local funding for HIV programs in Kano State. The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to maintain regular communication and consultations to monitor progress, exchange best practices, and tackle challenges in the HIV response.
